TWO choirs join together to perform perfect music for a summer’s evening this weekend in Hadleigh.

The Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir will team up with visiting Stevenage Ladies Choir for the joint concert on Saturday.

It’s being held at the Salvation Army Temple, in Hadleigh.

Stevenage Ladies Choir, formed in 1960, was originally made up of the wives of members of Stevenage Male Voice Choir.

During the early years, the choir took part in various competitions, winning a Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Music Festival, and now tour regularly around the UK, as well as performing in France and Germany.

The Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir are known for their popular local performances, including sellout concerts at the Cliffs Pavilion, where they’ve teamed up with celebrity guests including Alfie Boe, Lee Mead and the King’s Singers.

Mick Jacks, chairman of the Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir, says: “It’s not often we get to work with such a great choir and we are really looking forward to it.

“There is something very special about singing with a large choir and here we will have two.”

The Leigh Orpheus Male Voice Choir and Stevenage Ladies Choir will perform Music for a Summer’s Evening at the Salvation Army Temple, in London Road, Hadleigh, on Saturday, July 20. It starts at 7.30pm and Tickets are £8/£7 concessions. Call 01702 547315.
