HUNDREDS of princesses descended on Basildon’s Festival Leisure Park for a world record attempt.

Tots, teenagers, mums – and even dads – put on frocks and tiaras in aid of the Little Princess Trust.

There had to be more than 250 princesses to beat the world record...and organisers say they recorded 351.

There were huge cheers when a representative from the Guinness World Records announced they had beaten the record and were title holders.

Mum Lisa Houillon, 36, of Felmores, was begged by daughters Jasmina, nine, and Angel, five, to take part.

She said: “My little madam invited two of her friends to come along too. It’s for a great cause.”

The Little Princess Trust provides real-hair wigs to boys and girls who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment Towie’s Chloe Sims, who was dressed as Cinderella, was among the princesses.

She said: “All girls love to dress up like a princess.

“I always used to love Cinderella, although one little girl told me today she doesn’t have brown hair, which I had to explain away.”

Madison Stewart, 14, Wickford carnival queen, had brought her royal court to the event.

“All the tots keep coming up to me and saying how lovely my dress is,” she said.

Zoe Nichols, 17, a former Pitsea carnival princess turned up in memory of her friend Rachael Kiely-Cohen, 18, from Pitsea.

Rachael, who died suddenly on March 30 this year, was also a former princess of Basildon and Pitsea Carnival.

She said: “She would have wanted to be here today, so I’m representing her.”
