THREE travellers have been arrested after they set up camp in Billericay.

Police were called to Billericay School after residents spotted seven caravans arrive and suspected they were trying to get on to the playing fields.

Officers arrested two travellers for possession of an offensive weapon.

They arrested another man, who was wanted on a warrant in Southampton.

The police helicopter was launched to support ground units.

The caravans are currently parked up on the grass verge on the side of the A176.

It is understood the travellers are from Heathrow and have stopped off in Billericay on the way to their summer holiday in Clacton.
