AN impressive young dancer has bagged herself a role others could only dream about.

Youngster, Kyanne Cheung, from Southend has been given the opportunity to star in the famous Christmas ballet - the Nutcracker, at the Coliseum in London.

The 13-year-old schoolgirl will be performing in the English National Ballet’s adaptation of the show from next month.

Kyanne, who is a student at the prestigious Tring Park School of Performing Arts in Hertfordshire, will be part of the ensemble of party children and mice performing in the Nutcracker.

Kyanne is studying dance at Tring Park, whose alumni have had famous roles over the years.

Alumni include Lily James who starred as Disney’s Cinderella and Juliet in Kenneth Branagh’s Romeo and Juliet at the Garrick theatre in London and Daisy Ridley from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Other impressive alumni include Ella Henderson from the he X Factor and Drew McOnie, an award-winning choreographer.

Kyanne is currently on the ballet course at the school and they get the opportunity every year to audition in front of the English National Ballet for a roll in the Nutcracker.

Kyanne was lucky enough to get one of the prestigious roles.

Tring Park is one of the Top 100 Independent UK Boarding Schools and is housed in a former Rothschild mansion in beautiful grounds in Tring, Hertfordshire, and was used as a location in the 2015 Avengers movie, Age of Ultron.

She will be performing in the Nutcracker at the Coliseum in London from December 20 to 24 and January 3 to 7.

Ann Holland, the councillor for culture, said it was fantastic news someone from Southend would be performing in the show.

She said: “I am delighted that a Southend dancer will be performing in such a prestigious ballet. I also sit on the arts council and music festival and there is such talent in Southend so it is great to see someone like this get a foot on the ladder with such a prestigious ballet.”

The show boasts over 100 dancers and musicians who bring the Nutcracker to life with exquisite dancing, beautiful sets and Tchaikovsky’s glorious score played live.

The show tells the Christmas story on a sparkling Christmas Eve in a frost-dusted Edwardian London, Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker doll discover a magical world.

She undertakes the Christmas battle with the Mouse King and meets a handsome stranger along the way.

As the air grows colder, Clara and her valiant Nutcracker take a hot air balloon ride across London to the glimmering Land of Snow where her adventure really begins.

As well as London, their are performances in Milton Keynes and Liverpool.
