A BLOOD cancer survivor enjoyed an afternoon tea with Strictly Come Dancing winner Ore Oduba, journalist John Sergeant and the cast of the Calendar Girls at a charity event.

Kat Tsang-Orr, 36, from Benfleet, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma on August 28, 2012 at the age of 32. After undergoing chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant, she was given the all-clear in September 2015 and has been in remission ever since.

Kat joined a group of blood cancer patients and their families in Soho’s Muriel’s Kitchen for tea, cake and sandwiches, before heading to the Phoenix Theatre for performance of the Girls, a new musical ,in support of blood cancer charity Bloodwise.

She said: “To meet so many others with different stories about how they have been affected by blood cancer was inspiring, and reinforces that you’re never alone. It was fantastic to meet some famous faces on the day, but the true celebrities for me are the wonderful survivors and Bloodwise for raising so much awareness and support.”

Ore Oduba added: “It was a real privilege to sit with the families whose lives have been changed thanks to the tireless work Bloodwise does.”
