GENEROUS rotarians handed over £1,000 to help volunteers restore a popular Canvey Beach.
Rotary club president Malcolm Tugwood presented a cheque to Canvey Bay Watch chairman, Barry Campagna.
Volunteers meet for three hours every Tuesday to carry out their work, and will be adding more benches to the seafront in the next couple of months.
Members have worked tirelessly since setting up in 2014 to add commemorative benches, clear rubbish from the sand and seawall path, cut back weeds and scrub off graffiti.
Their work saw residents and visitors flock to the thriving seafront this summer when temperatures soared. It has even seen them reach the final stages of a nationwide competition designed to promote community spirit.
