A WESTCLIFF man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting and appeared in court a day later to face two charges of theft.
Sean Phillips, 46, of Station Road, appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 23, to admit the charges.
The court heard that the latest theft had occurred only the day before in Southend.
He admitted stealing Yankee Candles worth £23.99 from Clinton Cards between Saturday, February 4 and Monday, February 6.
He further admitted stealing a £25 bottle of Jack Daniels bourbon from Tesco on Wednesday, February 22.
The court also heard that he committed the thefts while subject to a conditional discharge, which was imposed on February 2.
He was released on unconditional bail until March 3 for a pre-sentence report to be prepared.
