CCTV footage captured an impatient driver mounting the pavement to undertake a parked car...narrowly missing a woman who was walking her dog.

Karen Watts, 58, of Highlands Road, Bowers Gifford, was walking along Pound Lane with her Shih Tzu, Ralph, when she stopped to talk to a man in a car that had pulled over.

It was while she was stood talking that a black five-door car mounted the pavement to move in front – instead of waiting for traffic to clear.

Mrs Watts said that the car was only a couple of inches away from her and her pet and could easily have killed them both.

She said: “This driver decided that he didn’t want to wait for the white van that was coming the other way and just undertook the car in front.

“He sped along the pavement. He almost took me out.

“What if I had a child with me playing or my dog wasn’t on its lead – he could have killed someone.

“I was so dumbfounded and shocked, I couldn’t believe what had happened.”

Following the incident, Mrs Watts visited the house which overlooked the scene and found that a CCTV camera had captured footage.

She posted a picture on social media in the hope of catching the man responsible.

The incident, which happened at about 11.25am on Wednesday, April 19, has been reported to police.

So far, no arrests have been made but enquiries are continuing.
