MORE than 80 Beaver and Cub Scouts from across Crouch Valley’s 14 groups attended their annual Fun Run at Riverside Primary School, in Hullbridge.
The 1st Hullbridge Scout Group provided much needed refreshments for the event.
Each Scout group created an obstacle for the Beavers and Cubs to navigate, as they ran round the field in a series of age restricted races. Beavers are aged six and seven and Cubs are aged eight to ten-years-old.
Medals were awarded to each race winner, and they also received points to go towards their District Colours, which is a competition run over the year.
The day’s activities concluded with the Beavers and Cubs raising over £100 towards Motor Neurone Disease by taking part in a game of ‘Heads or Tails.’ This is a cause which is close to their hearts following the sad death earlier this year of Tony Edwards, a Cub leader with 1st Rayleigh Scout Group.
This year’s ‘Heads or Tails’ event was won by Oliver George, from the 4th Rochford Cub Scouts – Alpha Pack.
