A DOG which has been at a rescue centre for 720 days has been given a big boost to enhance her chances of getting a forever home.

Staff at the Dogs Trust Basildon are baffled as to why Lily, a seven-year-old lurcher cross, keeps being overlooked.

As she had been there so long, the team at the Nevendon Road centre launched a social media appeal to ask dog lovers to donate an armchair to lonely Lily to could create a home environment in her kennel and hopefully get her noticed by potential owners.

They have also doubled her kennel size to make her feel more comfortable.

Her new lounge, which comes complete with an armchair - donated by Julie Humphreys from Laindon, pouffe and rugs has been a hit with Lily but staff still want her to find her a home. Kelly McMaster, Dogs Trust Basildon Rehoming Centre deputy manager, said: “Lily is a super dog with a fantastic personality; we can’t work out why she hasn’t been snapped up.”

“Dogs Trust invests heavily in designing the kennels to be as comfortable as possible; however the team have gone one step further to make Lily as happy as possible while she’s with us, as her welfare is our priority.

“Lily has been with us for a surprising amount of time and we hope the kennel makeover gets her noticed pronto, she’s such a lovely dog and deserves a happy, loving family.”

Seven-year-old Lily is a sensitive soul who would really benefit from finding her special someone.

She is looking for an understanding owner who will give her time to adjust to her new home environment.

Soft toys are a firm favourite for Lily, as well as walks and food, which is a great way to build a bond with her.

Lily is searching for an adult-only home with her new family being around for the majority of the time.

Ideally, Lily would love a quieter home without many visitors, where she is the only pet so that she can receive all the attention.
