ABOUT 166 fundraisers showed their true colours by walking, running and jogging to raise cash for a little-known charity.

The Fun Flurry was opened by Basildon mayor David Harrison and held in Shotgate Park, in Wickford, in aid of the charity Fibromyalgia Awareness UK.

The charity supports people who suffer from the chronic pain condition Fibromyalgia which causes pain and profound fatigue.

The fundraisers did laps of a course through the park, during which time they went through five "colour stations" where they were covered in coloured powder by "Flurry Flingers" from the Talents Theatre School and friends of the event organisers.

Everyone received a medal to mark their achievement and a pot of coloured powder to use in the finale flurry.

The event raised £1,200 for the charity.

One of the organisers, Joanne Ride, said: “The event was a wonderful success, we cannot thank everyone enough for coming along and making it such a fabulous day."
