TOUCHING tributes have been paid to a teenager who sadly died.

Megan Dowsett, 18, from Wickford, was killed by a train in the town last Wednesday night.

Although too upset to speak to the Echo, her mother Denise Dowsett said she was happy for a tribute to be paid to the former Beauchamps High School pupil and included in the paper.

Megan’s friends took to social media to express their utter sadness at losing their “kind and caring” friend.

Rachael Hopkins wrote: “She was a fantastic fun loving girl who had so much to offer.

“We had many family and friends who met her, and everyone enjoyed her company.

“Words cannot express how much she will be missed by us.”

Emily Carrington added: “It’s taken me a long time to work out what I wanted to say on here Meg, but I think I’ll leave it at this.

“I am who I am because of you.

“I feel privileged to have been alive at the same time as you.

“A little bit of my heart will always belong to you.

“I hope that soon I’ll be able to look through our photos without crying, but I’m heartbroken.”

Calvin Armstrong added: “Megan, you were such a good friend.

“You were always there for me, you will be missed so much.

“I’ll never forget you.

“Thoughts are with all her friends and family.

“Heaven has gained another angel.”

James Gridley wrote: “I’m so upset to see you go at such a young age.

“Had some great memories.

“Thank you for always being there for me and helping me out.

“You were one of the first people I came out to.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better friend.

“You were such a beautiful and talent young lady and you will be missed by everyone.”

A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed officers attended the scene alongside paramedics around midnight last Wednesday. He said: “Sadly a woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her family has been informed of her death.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious.”
