A Westcliff woman has entered a competition to win a bathroom makeover and pulled out all the stops to get noticed - performing an alternative version of Oasis’s ‘Half the World Away’.

MyBuilder.com, a marketplace for homeowners to find quality tradesmen, has teamed up with online bathroom retailer VictoriaPlum.com to find ‘Britain’s Worst Bathroom’ and give it a makeover.

The prize is a bathroom transformation with a value of up to £2,000 - including VictoriaPlum.com products and a MyBuilder tradesperson to complete the work.

Members of the public have already cast over 9,000 votes - and one story that has caught people’s attention comes from Westcliff resident Suzanne Arnold.

Suzanne explains: “I have moved back to Essex to be closer to my elderly parents and have just bought the only flat that I could afford - a flat which has been rented out for 17 years and had no money spent on it. Everything needs changing.

“If the bathroom could be renewed, then that would mean one less room for me to do and I could have a sanctuary whilst saving up to complete the other rooms.

“I am so desperate for a new bathroom that I am prepared to murder an Oasis classic and lose all self respect.”

More than 400 homeowners from all over the UK have already entered, telling MyBuilder what winning the prize would mean to them.
