A man attempted to hit a shop worker with a wine bottle as he attempted to leave without paying for bottles of alcohol he was trying to smuggle it out.
A man went into the Sainsbury's, in Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff, on September 7 at 10.30pm.
He hid bottles of wine and tried to leave without paying for them.
The man attempted to hit a member of staff with a wine bottle who tried to stop him from leaving.
No one was injured.
Police have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

This incident is in addition to another attack on the staff in the shop which police appealed for information about yesterday.
