Police are hunting four suspects after they smashed their way into an eldery man's home yesterday morning.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We are appealing for information about an aggravated burglary in Portsea Road, Tilbury, at around 11.30pm yesterday.
"Four suspects wearing balaclavas arrived at the address and smashed a window at a property.
"A man, aged in his 80s, confronted the suspects and was struck in the face with what is believed to be a crow bar. The suspects then left the scene empty handed
"The victim was taken to hospital with a cut to his cheek.
"There are no further descriptions of the suspects, however, anyone with information is asked to contact Grays CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
