A festival of fizz is set to cascade down upon Essex later this month.

Barleylands Farm and Craft Village in Billericay is hosting a Prosecco festival over the weekend of Friday November 24 and Saturday November 25.

On the menu will be the chance to indulge in a number of Prosecco, Spumante, Cava, Brut, Pink Champagne drinks and cocktail concoctions.

All the fun will take place in ‘The Great Prosecco Tent’ and there will also be bands, delicious Italian street food and a host of new Prosecco flavours to satisfy even the hardiest fizz fan.

The name ‘Prosecco’ is derived from the Italian village of Prosecco near Trieste, from where the sparkling white wine originates.

The UK has seen a spectacular drive for Prosecco in recent years.

In fact, figures show that last year UK drinkers knocked back two- and- a- half times more Prosecco than Italians did.

What’s more, the nation’s thirst for Prosecco is expected to grow faster than anywhere else in the world in the next few years.

Total consumption in the UK alone is expected to rise by 10.8 per cent to nearly 74m litres a year by the year 2020.

Evening and afternoon sessions will be taking place at the festival. There will be no parking available at Barleylands for festival-goers.

Tickets start at £17.50.
