The Royal Marines Visibility Team visited Westcliff High School for Boys to put some Year 10 PE students through their paces.

Despite the weather, nothing was going to stop the energetic half day programme of activities from going ahead.

Pupils were taught self defence techniques, team building exercises and general physical training.

Afterwards, Rhys Spear and Sam Wilson from the Royal Marines, showed the boys a presentation about what life in the Royal Marines and the Royal Navy is like.

The presentation included key criteria required in order to qualify, as well as the variety of tasks undertaken.

Director of Sports, Tom Morrish was also on hand during the activities.

He said “It is great to put our students through some extreme exercises and give them a taste for life in the military.

“Our Sports department is always keen to broaden the boy’s horizons and give them access to a variety of disciplines.”
