A SOON-TO-BE dad is set to complete three marathons in three days for charity.
In the last year Mike Garrick, of Gunners Road, Shoebury, has lost four stone in weight, got married and is expecting a baby with his wife Kirsty in July.
Not wanting to lose momentum, Mike decided to sign up to the Jurassic Coast Challenge after such a positive year.
Wife Lynsey said: “Last February, Mike weighed 20st. He has since lost four stone with Slimming World.
“Mike didn’t want to get complacent and gain weight now that he’d achieved what he wanted.
“He had applied for the London marathon but didn’t make the ballot. Then one day his sister and dad messaged with this event and he signed up straight away.
“He’s been keeping going to Slimming World and increasing his walking distances every week. He can now complete a half marathon with no pain or struggle. Luckily his new business is very physical so that helps with his health and strength overall.”
Mike will be undertaking the challenge on March 23 to 25 for Help for Heroes after he and Lynsey had a friend serve in Iraq. Visit .justgiving.com/fundraising/boredmonkeyuk
