Here are some of the latest court results from south Essex court cases.

A MAN has been given six points on his driving license for reversing across two lanes of traffic on a dual carriageway.

Richard Jones-Esan, 31, was driving at 50mph on Broadmayne, Basildon, but began to slow down.

He turned turned the wheel full lock to the left towards the kerbside before reversing his Nissan Almera back across two lanes. Jones-Esan then began driving back into the oncoming traffic on October 11 last year.

He admitted driving without due care and attention, without a licence and without insurance when he appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court. Jones-Esan, of Avon Road, Chelmsford, must also pay a £265 fine and £115 in court charges.

A MAN has been given a conditional discharge after being caught with cocaine.

Terry McGuinness, of Great Gregorie, Basildon, was found with 0.5g of the Class A drug in October last year.

He admitted possession when he appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court. The bench decided he would be given a 12-month conditional discharge. He must pay a £20 victim surcharge and £85 costs but faces no further immediate punishment. The drugs will be destroyed.

A WOMAN has been fined after being caught speeding.

Kathleen Casey was driving on the Southend Arterial Road in Leigh when she clocked going 55mph in a 40mph zone. The 38-year-old’s speeding was proved in her absence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.

Casey, of Chace Avenue, Potters Bar, Hertfordshire, was given three penalty points. She must also pay a £60 fine, victim surcharge of £30 and £200 costs.

A MAN has been fined £300 after admitting failing to turn up for appointments required as part of his community order.

Ryan Smith, of Eastern Esplanade, Canvey, was handed the order in December after being caught with 1.4g of cocaine. But he failed to attend two compulsory appointments in January. Smith, 35, admitted the breach at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.

A MAN has been fined after being caught not wearing a seatbelt.

Mykee Baweos, 24, was in the front of a Ford Transit van on Southchurch Road, Southend, on September 7 when he was spotted without the vital safety feature.

Baweos, of Weaverdale, Shoeburyness, was found guilty at a hearing at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court and fined £220.

He must also pay a £30 victim surcharge and costs of £90.


A MAN has been fined for running a red light.

Joseph Cairnes failed to stop at the lights in Cranes Farm Road, Basildon, on December 3 in a Skoda Octavia.

He admitted the offence at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court.
Cairnes, 51, of Sandringham Road, Laindon, was fined £66. 

He must also pay court costs of £120.
