This is why fire crews were in town centre
Two fire engines were spotted in Basildon town square.
However - crews have confirmed that there is no fire.
A spokesman from Essex Fire and Rescue said: "We were called to reports of an electrical fault in Basildon Town Square at 12.49pm.
"On arrival firefighters reported there was no sign of fire and ensured the scene was safe."
