A COUNCIL is searching for vandals after they destroyed a brand new information board that educates visitors about wildlife inside of a park.

The suspects entered Woodside Park in Benfleet and destroyed the board which had just been installed.

It is one of five new information boards installed by Castle Point Council around two weeks ago, costing £1,000 each.

Following the incident, Paul Varker, cabinet member for environment and leisure, said: ‘This is so disappointing, the boards are fantastic.

“This type of mindless vandalism is unacceptable.

“I would ask residents to be vigilant and anyone with information on this or any vandalism in our borough to report it to police on 101.”
