A SCHOOL is hoping to raise thousands of pounds for two worthwhile charities.
Edward Francis Primary School, Uplands Park Road, Rayleigh, held a coffee morning to raise money for Macmillan nurses and Southend Hospital Palliative Care Team, which is raising money to purchase syringe drivers for pain control.
Parents and other invited guests took part in the raffle and cake sale.
Headteacher Gary Soars said: “This is something we have been doing for a number of years.
“We have had people in the school community who have been affected by cancer.”
He added he was thrilled with the support from parents, staff and pupils for the event.
The school expects to raise about £2,000 to be split equally between the two great causes following the successful event.
