AN award-winning hotel has reported a boom in trade as a weakened pound brings in tourists from Europe - and encourages “staycationers”.

The Roslin Beach Hotel is enjoying a busy summer impressing visitors, and inspectors.

Jacqui Dallimore, managing director of the hotel on Thorpe Esplanade, said: “The weakened pound has continued to attract greater than anticipated tourist numbers and more staycations from our own internal market, which has ensured that occupancy rates have grown.

“This is great news for the town as well as the hotel, as it continues to attract more visitors bringing more money into the town.”

She was speaking after a surprise inspection saw the venue win a gold award - and maintain its four-star rating.

The Visit England hotel inspector said: “Without exception, the team at the hotel offered an exceptionally warm welcome, catering for every guest’s needs.

“The physical changes to the hotel include the creation of the sea facing afternoon tea lounge, adding balconies to the front facing rooms and changing the bedroom configuration to create fewer, but larger, higher quality specification rooms all add to ensuring that guests to the hotel cannot fail to be impressed.”

The hotel achieved the top rating rating across every category, including hospitality and friendliness, service and efficiency, cleanliness, food quality, bedrooms and bathrooms.

Jacqui Dallimore, managing director at the Roslin Beach Hotel said: “I am absolutely delighted and very proud of the whole team at the Roslin and the hard work they put in each and every day.

“We are dedicated to investing in both the hotel and its staff to make sure we become the very best we can be.

“Our ultimate goal is to become a five star hotel, but it’s not just about that rating, its about being consistently exceptional.”

The 62 bedroom hotel promises a “vintage ambience and modern comforts” with those in charge proud of their achievements given the visit was a surprise.
