A MAN is riding more than 300 miles from London to Paris in support of a fund which helps children and their families suffering from brain tumours.

Kevin Moore, 52 of Papenburg Road, Canvey will take on the route of the Tour de France at the end of this month, raising money for the Danny Green Fund.

The fund was started after Danny was diagnosed with Posterior Fossa Syndrome, a type of cancer common in children under 15, in November 2011, aged just ten-years-old.

He sadly died in July 2012.

Kevin, who works in Canary Wharf picked the charity because of his wife's friendship with Danny's mother.

He said: "The fund is very personal to my wife, Jo.

"The charity is doing a lot of great work and events for people suffering with the disease and they also support parents who have lost their children.

"My wife also lost her brother due to cancer and it resonates with her very much.

"Picking the fund just all seemed to make sense.

"The fund does great work in helping other children and families going through similar experiences, provides therapy and equipment and funds research into brain tumours, specifically Posterior Fossa Syndrome."

The challenge will start in London on Wednesday July 25 and after a gruelling 308 mile race, he hopes to arrive in Paris by Saturday July 28.

Kevin set up a JustGiving page in support of the event.

With just under two weeks to go before the challenge, he is less than £100 from reaching the target.

He has been in preparation for the race by taking part in the Dulux London Revolution on May 12 and 13 this year.

The race was a two day 300km circuit around London with an overnight stay at Windsor racecourse.

Kevin said: "The two days were littered with challenging climbs, totalling more than 10,000 feet including a couple of killers over the Chilterns on day two.

"The weather threw everything it could at me over the two days, but it was still an amazing experience."

Kevin was joined by his friend, Andy Fink, who also lives in Papenburg Road.

Andy will be riding alongside Kevin all the way to Paris this month, where he will raise money for a separate cause.

Kevin has been training for the race heavily, averaging around 130 miles a week on the bike.
