HADLEIGH is getting ready for its summer fayre next month.

The annual Hadleigh Community Summer Fayre, run by the Hadleigh Community Group, will take place at John H Burrows recreational park Hadleigh on September 2 from 10am.

The organisers are confident this year will see another successful event.

Karen Knox, the leader of the group, said: “Apart from the petting zoo, pony cycles, climbing wall and various fairground style stalls, the arena will have a variety of displays from choristers from the Waterside choir culminating with a fun dog show, supported by the staff of Morrisons Hadleigh.

“We have booked four local bands who will be performing throughout the day alongside Leigh brewery who will be contributing to the event with their locally brewed ales.

“The flower baskets that were installed in late May now look stunning with the help of The Salvation Army and Hadleigh Farm Training Centre who, with some of their trainees, undertake the flower basket watering each week.

“Their assistance helps bring communities together and brightens up Hadleigh, which is the main purpose of our organisation - to make Hadleigh an inviting place to visit.

“I mean how many towns can offer free parking at weekends and even have a free car park during the week just off Castle Lane?

“Our thanks go to firms such as Maison Noir, Hadleigh hand car wash, Johnsons Apparelmaster, St James the Less church and Hadleigh Old Fire Station who by providing water refilling enable all this to happen.”

There will be a range of stalls representing charities and community groups.

Lindsay Payne, Hadleigh Training Centre manager, added: “We are always looking for projects our trainees can support and are grateful to Hadleigh Community Group for this opportunity.

“We know trainees thrive when given the chance to participate and put what they have learned into practice.

“It builds their confidence and helps them realise the positive impact they can make in our community.”
