The chief executive of Age Concern in Southend has taken part in a wing walk to celebrate her 60th birthday.

Lin Boulter raised more than £2,000 for the charity.

Age Concern Southend currently provide support, advice and services to older people in Southend, Rochford and Castle Point including befriending, community transport, wheel chair hire and community clubs.

Strapped onto the top of a vintage bi-plane, Lin zoomed and climbed through the air at speeds of up to 130mph to raise funds and awareness for the small, independent charity.

Lin said: “It was something I’ve wanted to do for a long time, and combining it with both a big birthday and raising funds for AGE Concern Southend was perfect.

"The skies were so clear, I could see right across to London! I would like to thank everyone for their support; in particular CHC and Pinney Talfourd for their sponsorship, my team for their encouragement and also everyone who has helped us raise over £2,000 which will go towards our current project, The Haven; the development of a community hub in the beautiful listed Havens Department Store in Hamlet Court Road.”

All funds raised will go towards financing The Haven, an older people’s community hub opening on Hamlet Court Road in Spring 2019.

The project will cost £450,000 for necessary alterations to the beautiful, grade II listed Havens building.

The wing walk was paid for my local companies, Pinney Talfourd Solicitors and CHC Construction
