A south Essex town's High Street is set to stay closed for more than a week as crews fix a collapsed sewer pipe.

Brentwood High Street was shut on Friday morning (March 10) for excavation to repair a collapsed sewer pipe.

The road has been shut in both directions between Crown Street and Kings Road as Thames Water crews carry out repairs.

Essex Highways traffic map, one.network, shows the road will be closed until March 22 at 5pm.

Diversions are currently in place and are signposted in the area.

Buses in the area have been diverted and passengers face delays to their journeys as the services avoid the closure.

First Bus is experiencing delays to its 9, 351 and 37 services.

NIBS buses 21, 81 and 269 are also experiencing delays as they are on diversion.
