THOUSANDS of pounds worth of equipment was reportedly stolen from a car before three men fled the scene.

Essex Police officers were called to reports of a theft in Station Approach, Rayleigh, at about 11.20pm on Tuesday.

According to the force three men are reported to have forced their way into a van and stole thousands of pounds of DJ equipment before leaving the scene in a grey Citroen Picasso.

Officers searching for the suspects’ car located it in Rayleigh High Street where two people left the vehicle.

One man has since been arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle.

The other two men, however, including the driver of the car, are said to have fled the scene.

The driver is described as a white man, believed to be in his mid-30s, about 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with short black hair.

Essex Police has asked the public to come forward with any dashcam footage which could help the ongoing investigation.
