I cannot be the only person who is outraged at the way our tax money has gone towards yet another appeal against the lawful eviction and demolition of the unauthorised dwellings at Dale Farm.

The fact these people have had such easy access to legal aid is the reason this debacle has gone on so long. I doubt it would have lasted had the people concerned had to pay their own costs.

Was I also the only one who was not surprised Essex Police chose to arrest Len Gridley, rather than the travellers or their so-called supporters, who were erecting a barricade to stop a lawful eviction?

He was an easy target.

What the police should have done was stop the barricade being built, or arrested those erecting it, as it will be a danger to those carrying out the eviction.

Having read that police are going to be at the eviction to monitor both sides must not instill much confidence in anybody on the lawful side of the eviction.

In the recent riots, most people I know were behind the police and the firm tactics used against the law breakers.

Surely this would be the case if the same tactics were used at Dale Farm, especially on the human barricade threatened by the outsiders who have travelled to try to derail the rule of law.

It would be nice to see the police help uphold the lawful decisions of our highest courts.
