THIS man is suspected of trying to pass a false cheque for £1,400 at a bank.
Police have issued CCTV after a man entered the Natwest Bank, in Wickford High Street , passed the cashier a cheque for £1,400 to be paid in cash.
The cashier was suspicious as the signature did not match that held by the bank and when this was queried, the man left the bank empty-handed. Police have identified that it was a stolen company chequebook and the driving license he provided as ID was fake.
It is believed that he may have tried the same thing at other branches.
Anyone who recognises the man from the CCTV pictures is asked to contact investigating officer Pc Steven Miller from the Area Investigation team at Basildon on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
