A MAN was cut out of his car by fire crews after a crash in a car park.

Emergency services were called to the Mayflower Retail Park in Basildon just before 10am this morning, Saturday.

Fire crews from Basildon raced to the scene after an orange Volkswagen Beetle collided with railings and flipped on to its roof.

They used cutting equipment to free the driver who was trapped inside. Paramedics then treated the man, in his 40s, for a cut to his head.

An Essex Police spokesman said a lamp post was also damaged and the Highways Agency were called to carry out repairs.

No other vehicles were involved.
