PLAYER-MANAGER Dan Trenkel came off the bench on his return from suspension to help Great Wakering to their first win since returning to Ryman Division One North.

Trenkel named himself on the bench for the trip to Romford after serving a five-match ban handed out at the end of last season for comments made on Twitter about Essex Senior League side FC Romania.

But he was forced to introduce himself at half-time after an injury to Jay Nash.

Wakering were already leading 1-0 at that point thanks to Max Kent’s strike just before half-time and it did not take Trenkel long to complete the fairytale return.

He netted just short of the hour mark to give Wakering a two-goal cushion and Tony Jacobs wrapped things up with his second goal in as many games to give Rovers a much-deserved 3-0 win at Ship Lane.
