BOWERS & Pitsea hotshot Brad Warner says no-one is underestimating the challenge of Wroxham tomorrow, as he looks to fire his side to new heights.

The 24-year-old has been a key player for Bowers in the early weeks of the season, helping them to a top five spot ahead of the match with Wroxham, who are stranded at the foot of the Ryman North.

Warner, who lives in Basildon, is hoping to shake off a hamstring injury to play but says whether he is fit or not, the team will be ready for the challenge after he became an instant hit at the club.

“It has been really good since I arrived,” said Warner, who has four goals so far. “We are playing really well and have got some decent results. I think we were all a bit surprised at how well we took to the league at the start but after a few games we knew where we were at and we think we can do well.

“Wroxham are struggling but we must have the right attitude and work hard to get the results we want. We know we can turn it on against the bigger sides (having beaten AFC Hornchurch, Brentwood Town and VCD Athletic) and the same must apply tomorrow.”

Manager Rob Small insists Bowers’ primary aim is to remain in the division this year, although all the while they keep picking up impressive results, expectations may change.

And Warner for one says Bowers are more than capable of a top-half finish or better, especially if his burgeoning relationship with Lewis Manor continues to bear fruit.

“Originally our aim was to try and stay in the league and I think we would be happy with mid-table but we want to aim higher than that,” he said. “I don’t see any reason why we can’t get into the play-offs if we keep the right attitude.

“It is going well with Lewis,” he added. “In the first few games it is about getting that partnership going. On Tuesday night we were very good at Brightlingsea Regent and it was the best we have played together so far.

“It is a work in progress but it is getting better. Personally I want 15 or 20 goals this year and anything more is a bonus. But we will have to wait and see.”
