Harrow Borough 0-0 Billericay
From Earlsmead
Ryman Premier League
BILLERICAY Town extended their unbeaten run to 10 matches in all competitions as they played out a stalemate at Harrow Borough.
Town had been gunning for a 10th straight victory but were unable to break down a resilient Harrow defence, in what was a game of few chances.
However, it was an entertaining encounter, with both sides showing plenty of endeavour as Town searched for a fifth straight league win.
Greg Cundle, fresh from four goals in his last three games, was looking lively while young Kam Guthmy, who scored in the Ryman League Cup in the week, also looked a threat in wide positions.
However, Jack Giddens was largely untested in the away goal as the hosts struggled to break down a strong defensive unit, with makeshift centre-half Ricky Sappleton particularly impressive.
Borough had one of the best chances of the afternoon in the second period when an effort beat Giddens but not Guthmy who had scuttled back to make a goal-line clearance.
Town’s best chance didn’t arrive until the closing stages as on-loan Gillingham striker Cundle climbed highest to direct a header at goal.
The ball took a deflection and, although the keeper was beaten, the crossbar wasn’t and, unfortunately for Town, the ball bounced to safety.
The result keeps Billericay in touch with the play-off chasers as they turn their attentions to the FA Cup.
Billericay Town: Giddens, Diallo, Cross, Guarilovas, Sappleton, Stephenson, Monville (Banya), Hubble, Cundle, Krasniqi, Guthmy (Luke)
