GREG Cundle insists he is ready to continue his hot streak in front of goal and help Billericay Town into the first round of the FA Cup tomorrow afternoon.

The 19-year-old on loan from Gillingham has been an instant success since joining the club, with Town yet to lose since he made the switch to New Lodge.

Cundle has four goals in the last five matches, including two in the previous round of the FA Cup, and is now targeting another against National League side Maidstone United tomorrow.

“It is a massive game for the club and I can’t wait to be involved,” he said. “There will be a big crowd at Maidstone like there always is but we are ready and capable of causing an upset.

“I have played there as a junior before but never in my professional career so this will be a step up but one I am ready for.”

Cundle is a second-year professional at Gillingham and will be playing his football at New Lodge until the start of 2017, with the deal set to expire on January 2.

And the man who spent loan spells at East Grinstead, Tilbury and Margate last season is pleased at how he has started, praising the impact of his team-mates and manager Craig Edwards.

“It has been really good so far,” said Cundle. “It took me a few weeks to settle in but I think I have done that now and have started scoring goals. The more I have played the better I have got which is what you want.

“I didn’t know anyone beforehand but they are a welcoming group and I enjoy playing here.

“Craig has been good for me and has always been honest. He wants to give me the freedom to play which is great for a striker.

“My goal return is four goals in six starts so far which I am happy with, and the goals have come as the sharpness has improved.

“I want another one tomorrow now.”
