GREAT Wakering Rovers have parted company with Gary Ansell after he stepped down as manager last night.
Ansell told the squad of his decision to resign at training on Thursday evening, following a poor recent run of results which culminated in a 5-0 drubbing by fellow strugglers Heybridge Swifts on Tuesday.
Former assistant manager Ansell took over from Dan Trenkel 12 months ago, following a successful period as interim manager, and kept Rovers in the Ryman North.
However, Rovers have now lost their last four matches and conceded 14 goals in that period, including nine in the past two home games.
Rovers visit AFC Hornchurch tomorrow.
