BOWERS & Pitsea striker Lewis Manor says tonight’s game against Romford is not a foregone conclusion, after he made a successful comeback from injury at the weekend.

Manor, who missed five weeks with a knee injury, scored the winner as Bowers triumphed 3-2 at Ware on Saturday, making it back-to-back victories in the Ryman North.

Bowers visit Romford tonight, who they demolished 5-0 earlier in the season, but Manor says everyone is focused on edging close to the play-offs after they dropped off the pace last month.

“We came off the back of a bad run and we needed to put some results together,” he said. “We are still only five points off the play-offs which is good considering we went six without a win in October.

“Romford is a strange one as they blow hot and cold. We beat them 5-0 and the following week we went to Bury and lost 3-0 but they went there the week after and won so it is a hard one to call.

“We will be favourites but it’s not a foregone conclusion and we all know that.”

Manor, 23, now links up with fearsome front pairing David Knight and Brad Warner, who have excelled in his absence.

And the striker said he is relieved to have recovered from the a bout of bursitis in his right knee, and says he is feeling fully fit ahead of the Christmas period.

“It was great to get a goal on my comeback last weekend as I have been desperate to be out there,” he said. “I hadn’t played with Dave Knight before and I am working well with Brad so I think the three of us can do well.

“Dave has pedigree in Ryman Premier League and he is different sort of player to me. He will run the channels and Warner behind us is flying at the moment. Everything he touches is turning to gold and it is going well.

“The knee injury was a pain as there were fluid sacks in the knee that would expand on impact. It kept getting worse and needed to be drained and I had an anti-inflammatory injection but now it is all done and I want to push on.”
