JORDAN Chiedozie celebrated a new contract with Concord Rangers by scoring the winning goal against high-flying Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Chiedozie’s goal five minutes after the break turned out to be enough for the Beach Boys, but it was Hampton who created the earliest openings.

Jamal Lowe forced a smart stop from loan goalkeeper Bailey Vose after 10 minutes, with Nicke Kabamba also denied by the sprawling home stopper.

But Concord took the lead on 26 minutes and there was more than a touch of good fortune to it. A cross in from Rob Girdlestone looked harmless but Tom Jelley met it and looped a header over his goalkeeper and into the net.

Hampton started the second-half well and almost got a fortuitous goal of their own but Jack Taylor’s centre hit the top of the crossbar and bounced away.

But there was no disputing the second goal. Fresh from signing a contract with the club, Chiedozie tapped home after a fine cross from Jay Dowie to double the lead.

But Hampton were back in it on the hour mark – with Lowe finishing coolly into the corner.

Kiernan hit the bar but Vose was not to be beaten again as the hosts recorded an excellent victory.
