l RUNDOWN: Billericay Town are gunning for their first league win in seven matches when they make the trip to play Burgess Hill Town tomorrow.

Craig Edwards’ raft of new signings are beginning to click in recent weeks, with a 2-0 win at Brightlingsea Regent in the week securing their berth in the Essex Senior Cup quarter-finals.

And they will fancy their chances against Burgess Hill who are down in 19th position in the standings. However, they have played five fewer games than Billericay and sit just seven points beneath them, proving the competitive nature of this year’s competition.

There was nothing between the two last year, with two draws following the Sussex side’s promotion the previous year.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Town boss Craig Edwards said: “It will be a good game. We are two unbeaten and have lost one in the last four and we want that positive attitude.

“We want to continue this run after Saturday as we will get stronger as the weeks go on. We are scrapping through cup rounds until we are bedded in. We have some fantastic players and we need to work on some things at the back but we are bringing in the right people.

“I enjoy going to Burgess Hill as it’s a nice ground and they are good people. They consolidated last year and have pushed on and all the reports are they are a lot stronger. So I look forward to it.”

l TEAM NEWS: Billy Bricknell returns having been cup-tied, Danny Fitzsimons could play, striker Dipo Akinyemi joins, with left-back Oliver Sprague also set to make his debut.

A former Football League centre-back could also have joined in time.
