l RUNDOWN: Canvey Island are in need of a pick-me-up after they slumped to one of their most disappointing losses of the season - a Essex Senior Cup defeat to Basildon United.
The Gulls were beaten 2-0 by the Essex Senior League outfit and will now look to hit back against Ryman Premier League basement club Grays Athletic.
Grays are rooted to the bottom although they received a much-needed boost after ending a run of seven straight defeats with victory over Kingstonian on Wednesday night.
Canvey were beaten by the K’s last weekend but will want a positive return with a tough trip to Tonbridge coming on Tuesday.
l MANAGER’S VIEW: Gulls manager Danny Heale: “Tuesday was a car crash but we are playing OK. Refereeing decisions killed us against Kingstonian and it isn’t going for us at the moment.
“Grays are well beatable but they got a good result against Kingstonian. Ryan Blackman comes in which is big for us - he will be a massive player for us. It’s all about the league now and have games in hand so two wins can change everything.
“It is a local derby and there is a lot on the line. I still have faith.”
l TEAM NEWS: Goalkeeper Conor Gough returned from injury earlier this week, although this match will come too soon as he battles back to full fitness.
