GREAT Wakering Rovers manager Keith Wilson admitted he was 'lost for words' after a second half capitulation saw his team crushed 5-0 by Dereham Town.

It is the second weekend in a row Wakering have lost at home by the scoreline, in matches Wilson had targeted points from.

Daniel Beaumont struck in each half before a Joe Gatting double and a bizarre Nikki Beale own goal rounded off a miserable day.

And Wilson said his team 'threw in the towel' after the break.

“In the first half we competed and looked to be in the game but in the second half we just capitulated which is what has happened too often recently," he said. "It really was a match of chalk and cheese.

“It seems that once we let two or three in we just completely collapse which is not good enough at all. We really did throw the towel in. I’m just lost for words if I’m honest.”

Beaumont gave the away side a deserved lead after 19 minutes. Logan's corner was flapped at Tyler McCarthy and Beaumont's half volley ripped into the net from just inside the box.

Gatting could have doubled the lead before the break but it didn't come until the second period, with Beaumont firing a low shot in at the near post.

The away side added a third just after the hour. A classic counter attack goalsaw the ball drop to Gatting and he finished smartly inside the near post.

A bizarre own goal compounded Wakering's misery. The ball was smashed straight against Beale's head and the ball looped over McCarthy from from the edge of the penalty area.

But there was still more to come. A whipped cross in by Logan found the dive of Gatting and his header arced into the empty net after the keeper had missed the cross.
