CANVEY Island made it three draws from four away games after earning a valiant point at Harrow Borough.

The Gulls were winners against Dulwich Hamlet last Saturday but were coming off the back of a 5-0 hiding at Worthing on Tuesday.

However, they started well at Harrow Borough and deservedly took the lead.

George Allen, who was making his first start for the club since joining in the week, was picked out by Frankie Merrifield and he headed in.

But the lead was short-lived.

Two minutes later Steve Brown powered home from close range after some hesitant defending.

The rest of the half passed without incident, although the Gulls ended it strongly.

Callum Ibe saw a goal chalked off for offside while George Sykes hit the bar when well placed.

But neither side created a clear-cut chance in a low-key second half, although Harrow could have won it in the final 10 minutes, as only last-ditch defending kept the hosts at bay.
