LEIGH Ramblers manager Chris Sutherby has admitted that his side are ‘optimistic’ going into their Essex Premier Cup clash against West Bergholt.

Ramblers’ cup clash with the Colchester-based side was due to take place last week, but the match fell foul to the weather.

But the re-arranged match will take place at Belfairs Park on Saturday, and Sutherby has admitted that he has asked a few favours to find out more information on West Bergholt.

The Leigh Ramblers boss said: “There are a couple of people I know who live in Colchester and I have seen if they can give me any information on them.

“We are optimistic going into the game.

“Our performances in the league have not transferred into the results. We have been told that we are a good side. We need to keep working hard.”

West Bergholt will prove to be a tough team to beat, as they are currently fifth in the Essex & Suffolk Border League Premier Division.

And although Sutherby is aware that some may see his team as underdogs, he is looking for his side’s football to do the talking.

“I am hoping to see us put on a good performance and that will take care of the result. They have a very good side and a few people I know have put them as favourites but I am optimistic.”
