l RUNDOWN: East Thurrock will hope progress into their first ever Essex Senior Cup final can spur them onto greater heights in the National League South this weekend.

Boss John Coventry has urged his team to secure nine more points in the league - which he believes will be enough to keep them up and they may fancy their chances in Kent.

Welling have only recently climbed off the bottom of the division but are still just four points from the drop zone.

However four home league wins in a row proves this will not be an easy one for Rocks.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: East Thurrock United boss John Coventry said: “They are a side on the up. They had not been picking up points before that for one reason or another but their form has turned around in recent times.

“They are on a good run and they will be confident and looking at our last couple of league results there is no reason why they won’t believe they can’t get a good result.

“The second-half against Hemel Hempstead Town last weekend was very good (despite losing 3-2) and I can see us coming back to where we were in the first-half of the season.

“The cup game was very different and it was a battle but one we were able to come through so that is good.

“I have 12 players available at the moment and six receiving treatment last night.

“I am trying to get a few boys in who can play at this level and I can move around if I need to.”
