l RUNDOWN: After struggling to find their best form over the Christmas period, Billericay Town are fast becoming the Ryman Premier League’s form team.
Wednesday night’s 6-0 mauling of second-placed Needham Market came shortly after a win against fellow title chasers Havant & Waterlooville - with big-spending Town now just eight points off the play-off positions.
And they will be strong favourites to make it five league wins on the bounce against bottom club Grays Athletic.
Grays, formerly managed by Town boss Craig Edwards, have lost seven of the last eight games and conceded nine goals in the last two matches alone.
l MANAGER’S VIEW: Town boss Craig Edwards said: “We were unbelievable and it flattered them. Our finishing was excellent and there wasn’t a player that came off the pitch who hadn’t given their all.
“The back four were colossal as well. If I was going to war I would want those four behind me.
“It was the most complete performance I have seen since I have been here.
“But that has gone and that will not happen every week.
“We must approach the next game as focused and I will be drumming that into the boys. They know they must perform in training and in games or they will lose their shirt.
“I would like to think anyone that saw us against Needham will want to see us against Grays and we want to put them to the sword.
“There is a long way to go.”
l TEAM NEWS: Former Gillingham goalkeeper Alan Julian has been added to the squad after signing.
