GREAT Wakering Rovers have appointed former player Iain O'Connell as their new manager after sacking Keith Wilson earlier this evening.
O'Connell, a former manager at the club, was selected by the club's committee this evening to replace Wilson.
Wilson was dismissed after less than four months as manager having taken over from Gary Ansell at the end of October, with Wakering teetering near the foot of the Ryman North.
However, a return of 10 points from 57 has seen Wakering hit bottom of the league. They are now 12 points from safety and look destined for a return to the Essex Senior League, baring a drastic turnaround in fortunes.
Wilson left his position as East Thurrock United assistant manager in a bid to secure the post, but he has now sacked after a majority vote by the club's board.
