BOWERS & Pitsea striker Brad Warner has completed a two-week trial with Dagenham & Redbridge.

The striker’s performances have garnered rave reviews from a number of clubs this season, having scored 25 goals in Bowers first season in the Ryman North.

Warner completed a two-week trial at the Daggers at the end of last month.

And Bowers manager Rob Small believes Warner, 24, would be a raging success at the National League club, after the non-league giants already signed one of their strikers this season.

“Since Dagenham took Shomari (Barnwell) earlier in the season they have taken a keen interest in us. I have built up a good relationship with (manager) John Still and (scout) Terry Harris and they have watched a lot of our games.

“Brad has played well this season and scored a lot of goals so we have talked about him a lot.

“They invited him to train for the rest of season but he can’t take the time off work but he has shown his ability and it is a case of ‘watch this space’ at the moment.

“They aren’t taking anyone on right now as they are currently focusing on trying to win promotion to the Football League on but they are interested, really liked him and he acquitted himself well as a player and person.”

Warner trained four days a week with Dagenham, but he will now return his focus to Bowers as they bid to secure a top five spot in the league and earn a promotion of their own.

The forward missed an 85th minute penalty in Saturday’s 1-0 reverse at Phoenix Sports, as Bowers’ fellow play-off hopefuls scored an injury-time winner.

But Small said it was one of those things, and the striker remained a key part of his team - with one offer for the striker from higher up the non-league pyramid already tabled.

“We had an approach from a team higher up the pyramid who made a fairly attractive offer,” admitted Small. “I spoke to Dagenham and they said they wanted to give him the opportunity to earn a full-time contract.

“Bradley has now trained with full-time players and it’s important he is the same player for us now as he was before.

“He is a fine player and a top man as well. He is an asset on and off the pitch.

“But we are glad the players are gaining the attention their talents warrant.

“We are inundated with scouts watching our players which is a glowing endorsement of what we are doing here I suppose.

“Whatever happens in the summer will happen.

“I would love to see him at Bowers next season but I would also love to see him playing at that level.”
