l RUNDOWN: Canvey Island are looking for a fifth straight win when they make the trip to Surrey to take on fellow strugglers Merstham tomorrow.

The Gulls are now three points outside the relegation places but know the significance of this match, with Merstham also tied on 44 points, albeit having played four games fewer.

With as many as 12 teams still not safe from the drop, each game takes on huge importance. And with the top two in the division to come in the next month, Canvey will be desperate to take something from this clash.

l MANAGER’S VIEW: Gulls boss Danny Heale said: “Merstham got a win they needed this week and Leatherhead won too which puts added pressure on all the teams in the mix at the bottom. So many teams are in this.

“We need to keep it going as we have some hard games to go. We need to get these points as we have some tricky ones coming up.

“I think we need to try and get to 50 points as soon as possible and our goal difference is not great either. You don’t know what you need. Four games ago we were struggling but we have given ourselves a glimmer of hope.”

l TEAM NEWS: Manny Oyeleke's loan from Aldershot has ended. Ryan Blackman is likely to play after he made a miraculous recovery from injury. Jake Pitty returns to the squad.
