GREAT Wakering Rovers are all but relegated after they were hit for five by play-off hunting Haringey Borough.
Wakering knew defeat for themselves and victory for Ware would see them drop back into the Essex Senior League due to their inferior goal difference, although Ware’s loss sees Iain O’Connell’s men live to fight another day.
Haringey raced out of the blocks and stormed into a fourth minute lead, with Dan Aristidou getting the first of the afternoon with a composed finish.
Scott Olu Durojaiye doubled the advantage four minutes later, although Jake Gordon pulled a goal back to give Rovers a sniff with only 10 minutes on the clock.
Gordon was Rovers most potent attacking threat but Haringey restored their two goal lead thanks to Anthony McDonald’s neat finish.
Rovers kept going, although Ralston Gabriel made it 4-1 on the stroke of half-time to knock the stuffing out of O’Connell’s men.
Gordon netted his second of the afternoon midway through the second period to hand Rovers a glimmer of hope.
But Durojaiye completed his brace in injury-time to boost Borough’s top five hopes and put another nail in the Wakering coffin.
Great Wakering Rovers: Harrison, Ring, Robinson, Warren, Beale, Pethers, Evans, Gordon, Craik, Richmond, Burt-Allen
