TV personality Mark Wright is set to invest in Billericay Town.
The former The Only Way Is Essex star is believed to be prepared to buy a 20 per cent stake in the Ryman Premier League club, due to his close personal friendship with owner and caretaker manager Glenn Tamplin.
Wright, who started his football career with Southend United in 2005 and has also had stints at Grays Athletic and Thurrock, was at Town’s recent home match with Burgess Hill Town.
More than 850 fans were at the game, which Town won 4-1, with the big-spending team now just three points off the play-off positions after Saturday’s win at Kingstonian.
